austria hearts pacman

i just thought this was so cute! but also, so weird. you should know that on one side of this street was a church, and on the other side a cafe. neither relating to pacman.

what a royal crown snob...

we all know what she's thinking....she's wishin' that crown was hers!

some more hungarian tales (2)

so i went to the hungarian opera on my first night of spring break. not knowing what to expect, this is what i witnessed that i found somewhat surprising....

1. a lot of people fall on stage. by accident. not part of the show. it's really embarrassing. this could be b/c they had the most dangerous stage ever. it was a grid w/o a floor. who thought that was a good idea?

2. maybe going to a 3 hour play sung entirely in hungarian while running on no sleep and exhausted/jet lagged was not the best idea.

3. people dress in traditional hungarian clothing. i do not know why.

4. people also dress like trash. this is confusing as they must have paid over 22000 for their box seat (like 100 euros).

5. a lot of people that you wouldn't think would understand english actually are fluent and can understand you.

6. the oboists are drama queens and like to show up within the final 5 minutes before the show starts even though everyone else in the pit has been there for a good hour

Here are the photos relating to revelations 6, 4, 3, and 1

Some Hungarian tales....part 1

Here's a true story for you: this is the photo of the box where saint stephen's (who i didnt realize was a saint) hand rests. it costs about 100 hufs (ok, a "huf" isn't real dinero, it's really called the forint, but the international abbreviation is HUF thus for the 2.5 days spent in hungary, i called them hufs).....anyways it costs a ton of hufs to light up the middle of the box to see this hand and b/c A i am cheap and B i didnt want to see a 100000000 year old hand (maybe not that old), i have the darkened photo.

the story behind the hand is that saint stephen was also the first king of hungary. his hand somehow got separated from the body during the mummification process and traveled all throughout hungary before it was returned to the church. they call it the "holy right" b/c it's his right hand.

S cubed....a lil late b/c of spring break
